There are four climate zones in Kenya, and it is best to check what the weather will be like at the time you wish to visit. Nairobi, located in south-west Kenya, has its wet season in April and May, with the driest part of the year being July and August. This is generally the best time to visit, with temperatures rising to 21˚C at this time of year. Mombasa, on the south-eastern coast, is similar, with the wet season in April and May. However, temperatures are higher here, and during the dry season in January and February temperatures can reach 32˚C. A cooler time to visit is in July and August, where temperatures remain around 28˚C.

5. Highlights of Kenya

The main tourist attractions in Kenya are the safari tours. Kenya is home to 19 national parks and game reserves, where tourists can spot the Big Five safari animals, which encompasses elephants, rhinoceroses, lions, cape buffalos and leopards. One of the most popular parks is the Nairobi National Park, and for something a bit different, you can visit Lake Nakuru National Park which has a large flamingo population. As well as safaris, you can also take in the culture of Kenya, and in Mombasa there is a lively music scene which is popular with visitors, as well as the beautiful beaches which are a big part of the tourism industry here.
